3 idées de randonnées en Valais

When you’ve never hiked before, it can feel a bit intimidating. Where should you go? What gear do you need? And what if you’re not really used to exercising? So many questions — and not always easy answers.

Just like running, hiking takes a few tries before it starts to feel comfortable. The key is to begin with short distances, gentle elevation, and go at your own pace. The good news? You make progress quickly — and you might get hooked sooner than you think.

The goal of this article is to share 3 hike ideas in Valais— perfect for beginners, getting back into shape, or simply enjoying stunning views.

1. Lac de Taney

If you’re from the area or simply active on social media, you’ve probably already heard of the hike to Lac de Taney. And for good reason: it’s fairly short and accessible most of the year, depending on snow conditions.

📍 Starting point: Flon parking lot in Miex

🚗 Tip: : le week-end, arrivez tôt car le parking se remplit vite ou venez en Car Postal. Depuis 2025, il n’est plus possible de se parquer à Chavalon.

From the Flon parking lot, you have two options: a more direct trail on the right or a longer climb via the road. In both cases, sturdy shoes are a must— the path is rocky.

At the end of the climb, you’ll quickly spot the lake on your right. To get closer, simply follow the path around the restaurants.

2. Pointe de Bellevue

A short hike that really delivers — visually speaking. Pointe de Bellevue offers incredible views over Lake Geneva, the Dents du Midi, and the surrounding peaks.

📍 Recommended starting point: Portes de Culet

🌅 Tip: It’s the perfect spot to catch the sunset if you head out later in the day.

From Portes de Culet, it’s about a 25-minute climb to the top. You can also start from Morgins for a more challenging version.

3. Lac Bleu

The Lac Bleu has become a social media classic — and for good reason: its turquoise water is absolutely stunning. The hike up is relatively short and easy, which partly explains its popularity. As a result, it can get quite busy, especially on weekends. If you can go during the week, it’s definitely worth it.

📍 Starting point: from La Gouille, a small hamlet just before Arolla

🚗 Reachable by car or by bus to La Gouille

The trail is well marked — just follow the sign for Lac Bleu. It takes about 45 minutes of uphill walking to reach the lake. At the top, several wooden picnic tables overlook the water — the perfect spot for a lunch with a view.
